MIXED MEDIA & COLLAGE ARTIST
One of a handful of contemporary artists who virtually “paint with paper,” Tanya Mikaela’s collages express her spiritual journey, her passion for life and the allure of the Divine Feminine. By tearing and layering re-claimed paper she has developed an organic freedom of expression that allows images to emerge straight from her soul. Meditation and Affirmative Prayer are integral tools which support her artistic process.
Tanya also creates healing artifacts. Her Wisdom Wands, Wise Women and Talisman incorporate driftwood, clay, crystals and assorted findings into upcycled and wearable art. As a Spiritual “soul-coach” Tanya assists others in discovering their passion to release their own innate creativity.
She’s just completed her first book, The Circle - A Woman’s Guide to Joy, Passion and Authenticity - guiding communities of women to a joy-filled, inspired life. Tanya holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and an ALSP from Agape University of Transformational Studies and Leadership. She is a member of Los Angeles Experimental Artists Group, and Collage Artists of America.
“I love the process of tearing and layering reclaimed magazines, timeworn books, music scores, gift-wrapping, chocolate foil wrappers and more, upcycling them into works of art. I’m always excited to see these scraps of color and pattern alchemize on my canvas with clarity and purpose to give voice to the stirring in my soul!”
